Dear MJ,
I have enjoyed your blog about an area that meant so much to my dad. He served in the Philippines during WWII and when he came home to marry and settle down, my folks sponsored several children thru the Holy Child Orphanage there in Sagada. The first one I remember a lot about and have always wondered if he is doing well. I was wondering, if you ever get back to that area if there is any way you could look up an Alfred Santiago (born in 56). I have tried to look up things on the internet with no luck. My dad died in ’90 but I know he would have enjoyed your stories and pictures.

Thanks for this blog. I learned a lot from it. Kahit papaano, para ko na ring nabisita ang sinilangan ng aking ama. Kapit-lugar pa man din nito ang lugar ng aking ina. Salamat din sa mga tips na ibinigay mo. Magagamit ko ang mga ito pag punta ko sa Mountain Province (sana, bago magtapos ang taong ito).

OMG, this is us! this WAS us. i will never forget that trip, papa ces, signal no. 4 and all. i am so glad we took that trip before all of us got busy with our own lives, and i hope, somehow, we could do it again. thanks for coordinating that trip and take care.

hi, we’re going to baguio next week & would like to go to sagada as part of the trip..is that possible? how many hours from baguio will it take…we do have a rented van…or is it more advisable to go there commuting?

Hi ging!just want to say something with regard to your inquiry.
We just came back from our trip. Me, Jhie, and ging had a great time in sagada!! and i’m sure you will have a great time too…
I think the best way is to go straight to sagada after your flight than staying for a while in baguio. (or if you want to rest for a while in manila to prepare for a long trip) I suggest that you should take the bus in baguio going to sagada rather than hiring jeepneys. (take note: no aircon bus going to sagada)
where to stay? try in Residential Inn or George Guess House, resevation is a must.
Never leave sagada without eating @ Log Cabin, the food is great, again reservation is a must.
