About The Author

Hi!

I’m MJ Ces. I’m a website copywriter by profession, a Sagada lover by passion. I fell in love with the place ever since a friend took me there 2 years ago. I’ve revisited Sagada 6 times since, each with a different set of friends and colleagues that I was able to entice to accompany me.

This blog is my way of ‘revisiting’ Sagada. If you’ve been there, do come back (I’m sure you do!). If you haven’t, go experience Sagada. The trip is guaranteed to be memorable, inexpensive, and life-altering.

hi. we’re a group of teachers from iloilo city and would love to go to sagada on march 2009. please suggest the best way and most economical to go there, where to stay, etc. our original plan was to go to baguio for 2 nights, hire a jeepney to bring us to sagada, but found out that hiring jeepneys would cost us a lot. would it be better to go straight to sagada from manila after our hour flight from iloilo and instead stay in baguio after sagada? your advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hi ging!just want to say something with regard to your inquiry.
We just came back from our trip. Me, Jhie, and ging had a great time in sagada!! and i’m sure you will have a great time too…
I think the best way is to go straight to sagada after your flight than staying for a while in baguio. (or if you want to rest for a while in manila to prepare for a long trip) I suggest that you should take the bus in baguio going to sagada rather than hiring jeepneys. (take note: no aircon bus going to sagada)
where to stay? try in Residential Inn or George Guess House, resevation is a must.
Never leave sagada without eating @ Log Cabin, the food is great, again reservation is a must. :)

Hi Ging,

I emailed my reply. :)

Diosa made very good suggestions. Especially about the Log Cabin.

Thanks for this blog. I learned a lot from it.

Dear MJ,
I have enjoyed your blog about an area that meant so much to my dad. He served in the Philippines during WWII and when he came home to marry and settle down, my folks sponsored several children thru the Holy Child Orphanage there in Sagada. The first one I remember a lot about and have always wondered if he is doing well. I was wondering, if you ever get back to that area if there is any way you could look up an Alfred Santiago (born in 56). I have tried to look up things on the internet with no luck. My dad died in ’90 but I know he would have enjoyed your stories and pictures.
Thanks,
Victoria

I love Sagada so much! Me and my friends go back to that place every now and then. Before when it was still rough road, we would bear the 12 hour ride from Manila via Baguio or a 14 hour ride via Banaue. Good thing the road is much ok now and that recently i found out that there is now a direct ride to Sagada from Makati through http://www.cheaprides.multiply.com. If this is currently operational, then this will help us lessen the back aches brought about by having to transfer from one bus to another.

Hi! Hehe! Pati sa mga pocketbook na nabasa ko, the author described it as a very relaxing place. That’s why I’m looking forward to go there :( kaya naman sa debut ko sa November balak kong dyan nalang mag celebrate with my family <3

I will be visiting Baguio before the Holy Week. I want to go to Banaue Rice Terraces as well as Sagada.
I heard that there are two different routes can I take. What are the advantages over the other.
Thanks for the information
