Welcome to Sagada! Say it in your own tongue.

by admin on June 26, 2008

Sagada probably is the friendliest place in the Philippines, even the world. It is a natural melting pot of different races. Not a day goes by without a tourist, foreigner or local, that walks its paths.

Europeans love the place. Their yearning for adventure leads them to Sagada where they can go hiking, spelunking and dabble in nature photography. I’ve met Italians, Britons, French and Germans on my trips. Heck, the Log Cabin is owned by a Frenchman.

Some Koreans stay there for weeks doing charity work and teaching the locals in Sagada, Banaue and nearby villages. Americans also visit and to my experience, they’re the noisiest group of all. And I say that with compliment.

This point of racial fusion in one place is best proven with the welcome sign at the town hall’s entrance:

(just ignore the last line. I know it sounds too demanding.) :)

So, Mabuhay! Welcome to Sagada! If you haven’t been here, include it in your list of Places to Visit Before You Die. It’s all worth it.
